Pros
- Can work with your AC unit to heat and cool your home on a room by room basis
- Can use either 24VAC wired option or 2 c-cell batteries (included) for powering the device
- The device can be manually operated if needed (ie: no smart phone required if you want to set a room temperature)
- Wide range of integrations so if you already have an Ecobee or Honeywell smart thermostat you are in luck
Cons
- You need to purchase both the Flair vent and puck ($119) in order to make the system work. If you want full control for every room this can get expensive.
- The vents only come in one color (but are designed to be painted over with any color)
Bottom Line
If you are looking for room by room control and can afford to install both the vent and pucks in each room for maximum control than we recommend the Flair units.
The Flair smart vents are designed with flexibility in mind. Using a combination of smart vents that can adjust along with one (or one per room) temperature sensor and control unit called the Puck the system can work together to optimize each room of a house on its own.
The system features a wide range of integrations include voice control (Alexa and Google Assistant) and smart thermostat (Ecobee and Honeywell).
You will need to have one puck plugged into an outlet and in Wi-Fi range. This device will act as a gateway to your phone with additional pucks talking to this one main device.
The system keeps track of temperature, pressure, humidity, and ambient light in each room that has a Puck. In terms of control and monitoring you can set schedules for up to seven days. There is geofencing mode so you can have the system turn your house to a certain degree while you are home and then lower when you are away.
User Reviews
“My home office is a relatively smaller room and always becomes too cold. This means I have to adjust the Nest thermostat up, which then means some of the other rooms get too warm. I can now set the temperature for my room without affecting everyone else in the house.” “Amazing vent that goes with their thermostat. I had 2 rooms that were always an ice box in the house and others that would get warm. It nicely evens it out to make everywhere the same temperature and save me on my cooling bill.” In terms of complaints some people complained about inadequate instructions and also some features that were available and now were not.
